“I found a good deal on Groupon for this tour but I would have gladly paid the full price because it was well worth it. Our tour guide was Mr. Frank Currie, a local and a retired professor. He was obviously very knowledgeable and entertaining as well. My partner and I were with my 2 boys ages 13 and 14. Luckily it was just the 4 of us as the Essence festival was going on and people flocked to that event. We learned so much history and tidbits from the 2 hours we spent with Frank. We were able to ask questions and he even clarified common misconceptions about New Orleans etc. My boys said it was so much better having someone to show us around than walking around looking up at buildings and streets and not knowing what they’re about.
Also, the meeting place for this tour is at the Music Legends Park which also has Cafe Beignet. You can have snacks and listen to free jazz music while you wait for the tour to begin!”
