Anecdotal history – well done!

“Our tour guide David did an excellent job, with a wonderful mixture of giving the straight history intermixed with local stories. We especially appreciated the personal touches telling about his family and their experiences with Katrina. Likewise, he gave a wonderful rundown of the history of the word Creole and the history of racism, slaves and how more open-minded New Orleans was at times. The perspective on the history and creation of the French Quarter that our guide gave us was really educational, but not too education (the kids will like it too!). We also appreciated the detours through the shade and air conditioned buildings in that July heat! Ending with the view over Jackson Square and the Mississippi River was also wonderful, and he even offered to show some of Treme to those who were interested (we were not – we were hungry! But he did offer a wonderful lunch place – La Fiorella down towards the French Market – nothing fancy to look at but we sat on the balcony and ate the best fried chicken I have ever had!).”
